In November, people will be once again taking part in the YMCA Burton’s annual sleepout. The event which takes place over the weekend of 10th and 11th November will hopefully be another record breaker with 155 attending last year.
People have the option of a sleepout in Tamworth (10th) or Burton (11th) with a 14 mile walk from Tamworth to Burton in-between. The sleepers in Burton will have the option of bedding down in the tunnels of Burton Albions Pirelli stadium or for the more extreme, can sleep in the graveyard at St Modwens Church in Burton town centre.
You can take part in as much or as little of the weekend as you like.
Last year’s youngest participant was 6 and the oldest was 75, children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Paula Senior, fundraising officer said: “Please consider joining us at one of our sleep-out events, or the extreme weekend and raise money to change lives. Last year was our biggest event to date and for our ninth year, we are hoping to make it bigger and better than ever before for sleep-out 2017.
“Why give up your bed? To meet new people, have fun, reflect on our community, team building, networking – to know you are helping to change lives. We will provide a cardboard box, bubble wrap, soup kitchen and a bacon cob for breakfast and a hot drink.
